I often get asked the question is there a link to my potential Dementia or somebody in my family has Dementia or Parkinson’s or some neurological illness to my dental health. And there absolutely has to be, we have to rule out the dental issues because there are many studies linking the bacteria that causes gum disease to Dementia and a lot of neurological issues. And a lot of cancers as well. So the first of all, addressing those issues, the airway and making sure that you can breathe properly, you can sleep properly and the mouth has a big factor in that. And if you’re not breathing properly and you’re not getting to a deep level of sleep, then your brain is getting stressed, your heart is getting stressed. And that will lead to ongoing problems because your body needs to heal and recover in your deep sleep.

Other issues, obviously mercury and Amalgam, the silver-mercury fillings. Mercury is a neurotoxin. So we use the SMART protocol, which is a safe mercury amalgam removal technique to safely remove the amalgam and replace it with something that’s strong, that’s white and will last a long, long time and give you a good function again.

The other aspects really are is there any infections in your mouth? Do you have any potential infected root canal treatments? And we have a cone beam x-ray machine, which gives a three-dimensional picture of your whole head and jaw so that we can rule out the presence of these chronic infections that will just challenge you and that bacteria will be challenging your health.
